「盆栽」とは？
「盆栽」とは、自然の壮大な景色を、小さな鉢の中に創り上げる“芸術作品”と言えます。絵画や彫刻などの静的な芸術とは違って、四季の移り変わりを感じる盆栽は、自然が生み出す変化の美しさや、生命の雄大な鼓動を感じ取ることができます。
世界的にも、「盆栽＝BONSAI」は大変評価が高く、アメリカやフランス、スペインでは、盆栽の専門誌もあり、中には数万部を発行するものもあるのです。
また、イタリアでは、盆栽の美術館や、盆栽のことを学べる専門の大学まであります。
日本の盆栽店でも、海外から購入希望の連絡が入るほどです。
盆栽には、「うまく育てられない」「高齢者や金持ちの人の趣味」といったイメージをもつ人もいるようですが、最近では、若い人の中にも、20cm程度の「小品盆栽」や10cmくらいの「ミニ盆栽」を集める人も増えてきているようです。
盆栽の原型である「盆景」の発祥地は中国です。
中国では、盆景が唐の時代から行なわれていました。
日本にその盆景が伝わったのは、平安時代のことです。
盆景は、高貴な趣味として、武士や公家を中心に親しまれました。
「盆栽」と呼ばれるようになったのは、江戸時代のことです。
その後、盆栽は進化して日本独自の文化となり、現在では、“日本の伝統文化”として、世界中から高い評価を受けています。
盆栽愛好家の有名人には、三菱財閥2代目総帥の「岩崎弥之助」、「伊藤博文」や「吉田茂」、「鳩山一郎」などの歴代内閣総理大臣、プロゴルファーの「ジャンボ尾崎」、プロ野球選手の「イチロー」などです。
